It's time to start preparing for your state’s science assessment, but where do you even begin??? Thankfully, Kesler Science and The Science Duo have taken the hard work out of test prep for you! Based on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) science test, Lone STAAR Launch provides a student-led, in-depth review that will help build your students’ confidence prior to taking the test in 5th or 8th grade.
Our Lone STAAR Launch materials are updated each year, so you can be assured of having the most up-to-date materials. Our most recent edition of Lone STAAR Launch is aligned with the new 2021 TEKS science standards and also includes STAAR 2.0 question type samples such as hotspot, drag and drop, multipart, multiselect, and short constructed response.
The STAAR Elementary Science Assessment (administered in grade 5), covers 28 science standards that have been covered in 3rd-5th grade.The Middle School Science Assessment (administered in grade 8), covers 42 standards that have been covered in 6th-8th grade.
The materials also include a teacher setup video with a materials list and planning calendars that give you flexible options for pacing your review.
Student-led stations cover each 2021 TEKS Standard. Stations take approximately 10 minutes each and can be completed with paper or digital answer sheets or self-correcting Google Forms.
Within each station, students will complete an activity, extension, and reflection. The activitie sections are hands-on, giving students an engaging experience as they review. Extension sections take the concept a little further, and reflection sections allow students to connect the concept to another idea or standard.
